My bacherlor's thesis focuses on the bicycle parking situation at Aachen central station. The goal was to provide better, safer, and weatherproof parking in order to make cycling more appealing to rail commuters.
The proposed bicycle garage is located directly under the station square and aims to create a clear and open space that feels safe even at night.
The garage features parking for different kinds of bicycles, lockers, repair stations and a bike rental. It can be accessed from the street via a ramp and from the main entrance of the station via stairs.
In addition to the design a handbook about multi-use bicycle parking was developed.
